La robe Sandy est la toute première que j’ai dessinée ! Comme le reste de la collection Atelier Adriette, elle est extrêmement facile et rapide à coudre ; elle ne nécessite d’ailleurs que 12 coutures, ourlet compris ! Dans sa version de base, je lui ai donné un buste cache-cœur, une ceinture contrastée taille basse et une jupe évasée au genou. Je l’ai conçue pour un tissu maille, pour le confort bien sûr, mais également parce que la maille, ça pardonne tout et ça épouse tous les corps !
J’aimerais vous parler ici de 2 variantes faciles à réaliser à partir des patrons Sandy et Mini-Sandy : le rallongement de la jupe pour une robe Sandy longue et sa suppression pure et simple pour un top Sandy. Dans un prochain article, je vous montrerai comment approfondir l’encolure pour un décolleté plongeant.
Sandy : the long dress
To turn Sandy into a long dress, the only thing you’ll have to change is the length of the skirt. Assembly will be the same as shown in the tutorial.
Pour cela :
1/ Measure the wanted length for the skirt, on yourself or on the person you’re sewing for, from high hip line (halfway between waist line and hip line) to the ground (or to the desired length). Add 7 cm (2 3/4”), to obtain D. In my case, D = 87 +7 = 94 cm.
Astuce : dans le doute, n’hésitez pas à ajouter quelques centimètres de plus, c’est toujours plus facile de recouper après essayage que de rallonger si vous n’aimez pas le résultat !
2/ Set piece 3-Skirt on the fold of your fabric.
3/ Reportez à la craie de tailleur ou au stylo thermo-effaçable (c’est absolument génial ce truc !!) la forme de la ceinture de la jupe.
4/ Mark the fabric, at the distance D from the top of the skirt, along the fold.
5/ Move piece 3-Skirt and set it on the fold, with lower edge on previous mark. Trace the shape of the bottom edge of skirt.
6/ Draw a straight line from edge of waist to edge of skirt bottom.
7/ Trace a curb, parallel to the waist line, 5 cm (2”) below it.
8/ Cut this skirt twice on the fold.
Il ne vous reste plus qu’à assembler la robe suivant les instructions du tuto fourni avec le patron !
Sandy: the top
To make a top, you won’t have to cut the skirt, obviously, but you’ll have to modify the bust (pieces 1-Back and 2-Front), as well as piece 4-Waistband.
Je propose ici une adaptation qui supprime le cintre au niveau de la taille, et qui rallonge le buste significativement pour un effet « flottant » (parfait pour un baby bump, avec un tissu bien extensible – élasticité >60%). Vous pouvez tout à fait conserver le cintre, en suivant le courbe de la taille du buste, et/ou moins le rallonger.
1/ Set piece 1-Back and piece 4-Waistband on the fold, spacing them about 12 cm (4 ¾”) apart. Place piece 2-Front next to Back, perfectly aligned.
2/ Draw a line, perpendicular to fold, 10 cm (3 7/8”) under the bottom of Back (5 cm or 2” to lengthen a little less or for a kids size).
3/ Draw a line, parallel to fold, starting at the underarm of Back.
4/ Draw a line, parallel to fold, starting at the underarm of Front (on the highest side of piece 2-Front).
5/ Draw a line, parallel to fold, starting at lower corner of Front, on the shorter side of piece 2-Front.
6/ Trace the neckline to join the last line drawn.
7/ The width of piece 4-Waistband must now be doubled. You can cut it in knit ribbing or in your main fabric, as I’ve done in this example. Draw a line, parallel to bottom of waistband, 7.5 cm (3”) under it (or the width of the waistband for a kids size), and extend the short edge of the waistband.
Don’t forget to mark the notches on waistband.
Front, 2 Backs and Waistband are now ready to be cut. For this variation, cut the waistband only once on fold (and not twice, as instructed in tutorial for the original Sandy dress).
8/ Assemble the bust, with armhole and neckline bands, according to instructions in tutorial.
9/ When you get to the waistband, fold it in half, lengthwise, with right sides together. Pin the short edges together and sew with an overlock stitch, 6mm (1/4”) from edge.
10/ Fold the waistband in half, widthwise, with wrong sides together.
11/ Pin the folded waistband on right side of lower bust, aligning raw edges. Sew with an overlock stitch, 6mm (1/4”) from edge.
Et voilà, votre top est terminé !
